Summer-up your skincare regime

Seasons change, and your skin is right there along with it. Summer's here and your skin will warm up to a regime change. You might want to consider adding something new to your routine, like Clearasil StayClear® Clear 'n Refine Daily Scrub. A little exfoliation removes dead skin cells and reveals new, fresher skin. And fresh faces are what summer's all about.

But if there's one word you should remember this summer - it's sunblock. The truth is, tans aren't healthy. But if you're sensible and follow these simple tips -go on and have fun in the sun.

SUNSCREEN IS YOUR BEST FRIEND – Never let your guard down. Use an SPF of 15 or higher every day, no matter what. Spot-prone skin will do best with an oil-free sunscreen. Check for labels that read "non-comedogenic" (don't try to pronounce it, just look for it on the package; it won't clog pores). Remember, any amount of tan equals skin damage. Reapply often and use liberally. Sunscreen comes off after a few hours of exercise or swimming. For fail-safe sun protection, apply sunscreen before you go outside, reapply every two to three hours, and don't skimp.

THROW IT OUT – Don't get sentimental about your sunscreen. That one from your trip to Ibiza five years ago… toss it. Sunscreen should be replaced every 12 months.

HATS ON – Take your shade to go. A brimmed hat or baseball cap is always cute on the beach, and it doubles as a great skin-saver.

FAKE IT – Get the "good" tan. Self-tanners make you look like you spent the day at the beach, but application is an art form unto itself. Be sure to exfoliate your skin with a washcloth, loofah, or body brush prior to applying.
